Info: This costume was made for a group. It was pretty much a pipe dream of mine that started at the beginning of 2009. I thought it would be really cute to have a maid cafe at a convention featuring the maid outfits from Zero no Tsukaima, but wasn’t sure where to do it at! Originally it was going to be held at AUSAM-Con, only for the con to be shut down. The opportunity opened back up for Anime South.

The outfits are based on an Eiji Usatsuka illustration from season 2 DVD art. I did sort of want to make my outfit light pink (as it is in the anime artwork), but thought it would be best to match our reference picture and stay true to Eiji-san’s work. ♥

We tried to match each other as close as possible for this group. Construction-wise, I used leftover ballgown fabric for my costume — bridal satin for a little extra weight, and crepon sheer so it wouldn’t look so plain. The bodice pattern was a bit difficult to modify, but everything else was pretty easy.
